In response to the growing shortage of geotechnical engineers in North Idaho and the Inland Northwest, Samuel Sommers founded Inland Empire Geotech (IEG) to provide reliable, client-focused geotechnical consulting services. With over 12 years of experience, Samuel is dedicated to delivering innovative soil testing, foundation design, and geodesign solutions for a diverse range of projects.
His career began in the Seattle market, where he worked on multi-billion-dollar transportation infrastructure, wastewater treatment plants, and commercial developments. Since relocating to the Spokane – Coeur d'Alene region in 2019, Samuel has developed a deep understanding of the unique soil conditions in North Idaho and Eastern Washington.

Founder and Principal Engineer, Samuel is the driving force behind our company. Outside of work, he is an avid writer who crafts captivating stories and builds immersive worlds. He also treasures quality time with his wife and daughter, often enjoying board games and outdoor adventures together.
